TPACK & SAMR

SAMR:

    SAMR stands for Substitution Augmentation Modification Redefinition Method and it is an important model for teachers, enabling them to combinbe technology with their materials in-hand in their clasrooms. It is developed by DR. Ruben Puentedura and its main goal is to transform learning experiences with technology to enhance learning.

The Main Aspects of SAMR;

Enhancement

Substitution: A smiple way of using technology with no functional change to the method of teaching. To give an example, using PowerPoint or Microsoft Word to present teaching material rather than handing out hard-copy worksheets.

Aumentation:  In this stage, technology is still used in a simple and traditional way but with some minor functional improvements to help support students' learning experience and productivity. It is continuously used rather than being single timed.

Transformation

Modification: At this stage, the deployment of technology is no longer considered as Enchancement but rather as Transformation. By using technology, you can add, remove, redesign, change and alter anything you wish to.

Redifiniton: It stands for redefining the lesson's structure and trnasforming the students' learning experience with the use of technology. It allows for the creation of new tasks and formats of teaching which were previously impossible.

TPACK:

    Technological Pedagocical Content Knowledge is a framework that is crucial for teacchers to acquire so that they can teach more effectively with the use of technology and combine it with their own methods and knowledge. Simply put, it is a combination of what teacher know, how they teach and how technology is used.

Components of TPACK;

Content Knowledge: It refers to the teacher's knowledge of the content of what they teach, including facts, concepts and theories. Depending on factors such as students' age grade or knowledge, the level of CK deployed may differ.

Pedagogical Knowledge: It refers to the method teachers use to transmit their knowledge to students during class. It includes, assessments, instructional strategies and teaching methods.

Technological Knowledge: It refers to the teacher's knowledge of how to use technology. Not just techonological devices but the ways of making technology a part of the clasroom contributing to the students' learning experience.  It includes websites, apps, games and such that support learning.

Combinations of TPACK Components;

Technological Content Knowledge: Combination of Technological knowledge and Content Knowledge.

Pedagogical Content Knowledge: Combination of Pedagogical knowledge and Content Knowledge.

Technological Pedagogial Knowledge: Combination of Technological knowledge and Pedagogial Knowledge.
